The beginning was bit uncertain, convictions had little doubts but the journey so far has been encouraging as well as interesting. The mBillionth Award in its 5th year is turning into a pool of m-knowledge, m-innovations as well as m-strategies and m-thinking with minds from India and South Asia all set to prove that mobile is next m-powering tool in one of the most populous as well as happening region. With DEF’s growing participation in Mass empowerment through effective deployment of ICT tools and mediums,the mBillionth Award South Asia look forward to get bigger and better!

It is a collective pride and satisfaction that mBillionth could provide a dynamic forum and ecosystem for the mobile and telecom stakeholders in South Asia to experience, share and exchange ideas, innovations and partnerships, all towards meeting governance, development and citizen services needs for more than 1.5 billion population in the region.

DEF seeks to harness the ongoing efforts of recognizing mobile innovations to bridge the Social and Developmental gaps in the communities by creating a conducive-exchange platform for developers, content creators, telcos and device players.In its last four years, DEF received over 1500 Innovative applications from 8 South Asian countries which include Corporate initiatives, NGOs advancement innovation, Rural empowerment schemes from Government & even Individual developments.
